Blue Ridge Parkway – Oct. 2008

The first legit motorcycle trip I took was in October 2008 on my 2006 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636. It was only a few months earlier that the whole concept of adventure travel/touring via motorcycle had even occurred to me. This plan grew from me and few friends talking about riding our bikes from Orlando down to The Keys for a few days to simply hang out and ride somewhere new. That ride never happened but my desire to do a multi-day ride after college didn’t go away. So I set off for a weeks worth of riding on the Tail of the Dragon and Blue Ridge Parkway.

No blog or comments, just pictures.

As with most first time moto travelers, I grossly over-packed.

Overall, the trip was a success. I rode from Florida to Virginia and back, riding the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Cherohala Skyway, and spending multiple days on the Tail of the Dragon. I might revisit this trip again in mid 2013 on the F800GS as a sort of ‘shake-down’ trip prior to leaving for South America.
